Wastenaw County

These digital banner ad sets were created to bring awareness to a Hepatitis A outbreak in Michigan.

I was not given much information about what they were looking for aesthetically. I followed the the ad click through and watched the video they had posted on their website and pulled ideas from that.

Disease and Outbreak ads are a bit tricky in my opinion. One on hand we're dealing with an infectious disease that the public needs to be aware of and how to prevent. On the other hand, I'm an artist. So how do I balance such an important message with design?

My solution was to use bright contrasting colors to attract attention to the message of the outbreak. I found a good image of the Hepatitis A virus and gave it a complimentary color overlay so it would be present and visible while not distracting visually from the prevention messaging. I utilized a very graphic and vector based aesthetic to fit within the medical field but also keep the design clean and easy to understand.

The client wanted 2 different design sets to rotate for this campaign. I enjoyed playing with these colors quite a bit. They work well together and draw the attention of the viewer while promoting this public health message in positive way.
